What is Wales' Drowning Prevention Strategy?

Wales' Drowning Prevention Strategy provides a framework for collective action across Wales. Bringing together organisations, communities and individuals, it sets out an approach to reducing drowning incidents, improving water safety and working towards a future where everyone can be safe in, on and around water.

No single organisation can prevent drowning alone. The strategy brings together partners across Wales to drive collaboration, education, awareness and evidence-led action.

How we will get there

The strategy is built around seven strategic aims that will guide action across Water:

Seven Strategic Aims

Together, these aims will help create safer experiences in and around water in Wales.

Everyone has a role to play

Everyone has a role to play in improving water safety across Wales.

Whether you're a parent, teacher, community organisation, partner or member of the public, by working together, we can increase awareness, strengthen education and support safer experiences around
